Inverex Solar Energy becomes first Official Bidder for new Pakistan Super League franchises

By Nawaz Gohar ; As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) prepares for a monumental expansion, Inverex Solar Energy has officially secured the top spot as the first qualified bidder for the upcoming auction of two new franchises.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the renewable energy leader is the first of ten potential buyers to clear the technical and financial evaluation process for the league’s 11th edition.

The inclusion of Inverex at the head of the qualified bidders’ list is being viewed as a testament to the company’s strategic vision and its commitment to Pakistan’s sporting landscape. By becoming the first to qualify, the company has demonstrated significant preparedness to take on a major role in the country’s premier T20 tournament.

A Strategic Shift Toward Expansion The upcoming auction, scheduled for January 8, 2026, at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, will see the PSL grow from six to eight teams.

The base price for each new franchise is estimated at approximately Rs. 1 billion. Successful bidders will have the opportunity to represent a new home city, with Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Rawalpindi emerging as the most sought-after locations.

Leading with Innovation and Commitment Inverex Solar Energy, a company already well-known for its innovation in the energy sector, has maintained a long-standing association with Pakistan cricket as a sponsor for nearly a decade. Their transition from a sponsor to a potential team owner marks a new chapter in their corporate journey.

“This is a clear reflection of our vision and trust in the future of Pakistan,” a company spokesperson stated. “Being at the top of the eligibility list shows our readiness to energize the sporting field just as we do the energy sector. With strong leadership and a commitment to national development, we are ready to play a defining role in this new era of cricket.”

The Bidding Landscape Inverex is joined by several other high-profile entities in the race for ownership. Other confirmed bidders include the Tareen Group (led by Ali Khan Tareen), Karachi-based VGO TEL, and the OZ Group. The expansion is expected to revolutionize the league’s format, introducing a new “Super Four” stage and bringing PSL matches to new venues like the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad. The final announcement regarding the owners of the two new teams will be made following the high-profile bidding ceremony this Thursday.
