Jofra Archer Misses Out As England Reveal Squad For Pakistan ODI Tri-Series

England will travel to Pakistan with a 16-member squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series, which also includes Sri Lanka. The selectors have decided to leave Jofra Archer out, while Jos Buttler remains unavailable as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem.

Archer featured in England’s recent home series against Sri Lanka, but it was not a successful outing for the fast bowler. Despite England winning the series 2-1, he managed to take only one wicket, with an average of 121.

Meanwhile, Buttler suffered his injury during the second ODI against Sri Lanka at Headingley and will now miss the upcoming series.

Despite these notable exclusions, there is some good news for England, as Adil Rashid will return to the team after recovering from his injury. Apart from him, Sam Curran is also back in the squad following his recovery from a groin problem.

“The tri-series in Pakistan provides another valuable opportunity for our ODI squad to test themselves against quality opposition in different conditions,” said England chief selector Marcus North.

“Adil Rashid and Sam Curran return to the squad following their respective injuries while Jofra Archer has been rested to manage his workload following a busy summer.” added Marcus North.

Talking about other inclusions, Glamorgan spinner Mason Crane has received his first ODI call-up, eight years after making his only Test appearance for England against Australia during the 2018 Ashes.

Meanwhile, England will open their tri-series campaign against Pakistan on October 20 in Rawalpindi. The tournament will give all three teams an opportunity to fine-tune their preparations for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

The tri-series will initially get underway on October 18, with the final scheduled for October 31 between the two teams that finish at the top of the standings.
