PSL 11 kick-off: 44 matches, 8 franchises & debut of Faisalabad & Peshawar as hosts
By Nawaz Gohar ; The official trophy unveiling ceremony for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) took place on Wednesday at the newly constructed building of the National Stadium, Karachi. The dignified ceremony was presided over by PSL CEO Salman Naseer, who served as the chief guest.
The event saw participation from prominent franchise owners and representatives, including Nadeem Omar (Quetta Gladiators), Salman Iqbal (Karachi Kings), Atif Rana (Lahore Qalandars), and Ahsan Tahir, representing the league’s newest addition, the Rawalpindi Pandas.
Addressing the attendees, Salman Naseer remarked that the PSL has officially entered a transformative new phase. “Over the past decade, this league has evolved through various stages to become a robust and expansive family,” Naseer stated. He added that while winning and losing are part of the game, the journey of the PSL has turned it into a “mighty tree” with deep roots in the cricketing world.
The 11th edition of the PSL is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 10, 2026. This season marks a significant milestone as the league expands to eight teams for the first time.
A total of 44 matches will be played across six cities: Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, and Peshawar. In a move to further broaden the league’s reach, Faisalabad and Peshawar will be making their debut as host cities for PSL matches.
The tournament will kick off at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, featuring a high-stakes opening match between the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, and the newly inducted Hyderabad Kingsmen.
