Cricketer Salman Mirza slaps journalist and private TV channel with Rs100M defamation notice
By Nawaz Gohar ; Pakistani cricketer Salman Mirza has issued a legal notice seeking PKR 100 million (10 Crore) in damages from a journalist and a private television channel for the dissemination of false allegations and “fake news.”
According to the text of the legal notice, the journalist aired a misleading report in a deliberate attempt to defame the cricketer, causing significant harm to his professional reputation and public standing.
The notice further emphasizes that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already formally refuted the report, labeling it as entirely false and baseless.
Salman Mirza has demanded an unconditional public apology from both the private channel and the journalist involved. The notice warns that failure to comply with these demands will result in further formal legal proceedings.
