Mari Energies CEO Faheem Haider elected president of Federal Golf Association

By Nawaz Gohar ;  The Federal Golf Association (FGA) has officially announced the election of its new office bearers for the 2025–2029 term, ushering in a new era of leadership for the sport in the federal region.

Leading the association as the newly elected President is Mr. Faheem Haider, the current MD and CEO of Mari Energies Pvt. Limited. A seasoned executive, Mr. Haider has served as Mari Petroleum’s nominated Director on the PIOL Board since 2021 and brings a wealth of technical, operational, and commercial expertise to the role.

His distinguished 28-year international career includes leadership positions at prestigious global firms such as Union Texas Petroleum, OMV Pakistan, Helix RDS, BG Group, and Neptune Energy.

An alumnus of Imperial College London and the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Mr. Haider’s academic and professional pedigree is expected to provide a strategic boost to the association’s governance.

The newly formed executive body also includes a team of dedicated professionals committed to the development of the game. Air Vice Marshal Tariq Mehmood Ghazi, SI (M), has been elected as Senior Vice President, supported by Mr. Ibrar Khan as Vice President.

The administrative core will be managed by Honorary Secretary Brig Sumair Ashraf Sheikh, Honorary Treasurer Mr. Bilal Tariq Khan, and Honorary Joint Secretary Mr. Syed Amer Gilani. Together, this cabinet represents a blend of military precision and corporate excellence, tasked with elevating the standards of golf within the Federal area over the next four years.

The election process was conducted with strict adherence to transparency and regulatory standards. Managed by Mr. Malik Muhammad Kamran of the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF), the proceedings were held under the direct supervision of representatives from the Election Commission of Pakistan Sports Board and the Islamabad Olympic Association.

This oversight ensured full compliance with the prevailing sports governance frameworks. Following the announcement, the Pakistan Golf Federation extended its warmest congratulations to the newly elected team, expressing high hopes for the continued growth and promotion of golf under their stewardship.
