Babar Azam becomes fastest batter to reach 12,000 T20 runs

By Nawaz Gohar ; Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has set a new world record by becoming the fastest player to complete 12,000 runs in T20 cricket.

The Peshawar Zalmi captain achieved this milestone during an HBL PSL 11 match against Karachi Kings, surpassing the record previously held by the legendary West Indian power-hitter Chris Gayle.

Babar reached the 12,000-run mark in just 338 innings, overtaking Gayle who accomplished the feat in 343 innings.

The elite list of rapid run-scorers now sees India’s Virat Kohli in third place (360 innings) and Australia’s David Warner in fourth (368 innings). Notably, Babar is only the second Pakistani cricketer to cross this threshold, following veteran Shoaib Malik, who currently leads the national tally with 13,571 T20 runs.
