FIH invites Pakistan hockey legend Shahbaz Senior to World Cup
ISLAMABAD: In a major honour for Pakistan hockey, legendary former captain Shahbaz Senior has been invited by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) as a special guest for the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026.
FIH has officially invited Shahbaz Senior to represent Pakistan among the world’s hockey legends during the tournament. As one of the game’s iconic figures, he will participate in special events and official activities alongside other celebrated former international players.
The FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 will be held from August 15 to 30 in Belgium and the Netherlands, bringing together the world’s top teams as well as renowned hockey legends from across the globe.
Shahbaz Senior captained Pakistan to its historic 1994 Hockey World Cup triumph, the country’s last world title. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, his invitation by FIH is a fitting recognition of his outstanding contributions to international hockey and a proud moment for Pakistan hockey.
