CDA approves Rs 8.9 billion winning bid for state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Islamabad
By Nawaz Gohar ; The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has opened the financial bids for the construction of the country’s newest state-of-the-art cricket stadium in the federal capital.
According to the CDA, a joint consortium comprising Habib, ZKB, and EA emerged as the successful bidder for the project. The consortium submitted a winning bid of PKR 8.9 billion for the construction of the cricket stadium and its associated external infrastructure development.
The authority stated that following technical and financial evaluation and approval by the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK), the contract will formally be awarded to the winning consortium.
CDA officials confirmed that once construction work commences, every effort will be made to complete the project within one year. The initiative is being closely monitored by the Federal Interior Minister, the Chairman of the CDA, and the Member Environment to ensure its completion within the stipulated timeframe.
According to officials, the new stadium will be situated at the foothills of the Margalla Hills near Sector D-12 in Islamabad. Designed in accordance with modern international standards, the venue will be modeled after the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The project features a seating capacity of 35,000 spectators alongside comprehensive infrastructure, including a 3-kilometer three-lane dual carriageway access road, dedicated parking areas, drainage systems, utility networks, and other essential amenities.
The CDA clarified that the financial bids were opened after fulfilling all legal requirements and Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) guidelines. Prior to final approval, the project consultant will conduct a detailed review of the submitted rates and cost estimates to maintain full transparency throughout the process.
