Desert Vipers sign Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan
By Nawaz Gohar ; Pakistan’s premier all-rounder Shadab Khan has reached a significant agreement to join the Desert Vipers for the upcoming 2026 edition of the Global Super League (GSL).
This high-profile signing marks the star cricketer’s debut in the GSL, further expanding his footprint across major international T20 circuits.
According to international media reports, the 2026 Global Super League is scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 1 in Guyana. The entirety of the tournament will be hosted at the iconic Providence Stadium, where five top-tier teams from across the globe will compete for a US$1 million prize pool.
The Desert Vipers have assembled a formidable 14-member squad for the competition. Shadab Khan will join an elite roster that includes: Daryl Mitchell (New Zealand), Kyle Mayers (West Indies), Andries Gous (USA),
Chris Green (Captain – Australia). The inclusion of Shadab is expected to provide critical balance to the team, given his dual-threat capabilities with both the bat and the ball.
At 27, Shadab Khan brings a wealth of experience from leagues worldwide, including his successful captaincy of Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
All-Round Prowess: Known for his aggressive batting and lethal leg-spin, Shadab has a proven track record of shifting momentum in the middle overs.
T20 Pedigree: With over 340 T20 appearances and nearly 380 wickets to his name, experts believe Shadab’s presence makes the Desert Vipers a leading contender for the 2026 title.
The tournament, overseen by Cricket West Indies and chaired by legendary cricketer Sir Clive Lloyd, continues to grow in stature, with this year’s edition promising high-intensity action for cricket fans in the Caribbean and beyond.
