Govt releases crucial funds for national hockey team’s European tour
By Nawaz Gohar ; The government of Pakistan has officially released the required funding for the National Senior Hockey Team’s upcoming tour of England and Belgium for the FIH Pro League, according to a statement issued by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) spokesperson.
The PHF has lauded the government’s move, describing it as a “significant milestone” in the ongoing efforts to revive the national sport. Expressing gratitude for the administration’s unwavering support, the Federation noted that the timely provision of funds reflects a firm commitment to promoting hockey both domestically and on the global stage.
The Federation emphasized that these funds are indispensable for the sport’s development, providing national players with a vital platform to showcase their talent at an international level.
“This support ensures our athletes can compete against the world’s best, which is essential for the growth and progress of Pakistan hockey,” the spokesperson stated.
The PHF has assured the government that the allocated resources will be utilized with complete transparency and efficiency to restore Pakistan’s prestige in the international hockey arena. The Federation added that the national “heroes” are fully prepared to make the country proud.
While the detailed schedule and match fixtures for the tour are expected to be announced shortly, the PHF reaffirmed its dedication to using these resources to reclaim the “golden era” of Pakistan hockey.
“We are grateful for the trust reposed in us by the government and remain committed to utilizing these resources to bring back the lost glory of our national game,” the statement concluded.
