Pakistan’s Muhammad Gulzar wins wrestling bronze at Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh

Nawaz Gohar from Riyadh ; Pakistan secured a bronze medal in wrestling at the Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as national wrestler Muhammad Gulzar delivered an impressive performance in the 97kg category.

According to Arab media reports, Gulzar raised Pakistan’s flag with pride after winning the bronze medal bout. With this achievement, Pakistan concluded the Games with a total of five medals, including one gold, one silver, and three bronze.

Media reports further stated that Gulzar first defeated his Afghan opponent in the repechage round to qualify for the bronze medal contest. In the decisive bout, he overpowered Turkey’s wrestler with a 5–4 score, securing victory with a fall position to claim the bronze.

Following his win, Muhammad Gulzar dedicated his medal to the Pakistan Army’s Operation “Bunyān-e-Marsūs”, saying the victory was for the nation, its defenders, and its martyrs.

Gulzar acknowledged the crucial role of the Pakistan Wrestling Federation, noting that an intensive three-month training camp in Gujranwala, led by coach Inam Butt, significantly contributed to his success. “We learned a great deal from the camp, and by the grace of Allah, our hard work has been rewarded,” he said.

Meanwhile, Arshad Sattar, President of the Pakistan Wrestling Federation, congratulated Gulzar and termed the achievement a moment of pride for the entire country.
