PSL 11: Who will replace Mohammad Rizwan as Multan Sultans captain?

By Nawaz Gohar ;  Major changes are expected within the Multan Sultans franchise ahead of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11. The team management is reportedly considering appointing the current Pakistan T20I captain, Salman Ali Agha, as the new skipper, replacing the long-standing leader Mohammad Rizwan.

Mohammad Rizwan, who has served as the backbone of the franchise for several years, is likely to be relieved of his leadership duties. Under his captaincy, Multan Sultans emerged as one of the most consistent and formidable teams in the league, achieving significant success and reaching multiple finals.

This shift in leadership is part of a broader organizational overhaul. For PSL 11, the team will be managed directly by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), as the previous ownership agreement has concluded. The PCB has decided to put the Multan Sultans franchise up for re-auction following the conclusion of the eleventh season.

As part of the administrative restructuring, Aaqib Javed, the current head coach of Lahore Qalandars, is likely to be appointed as the “Head of Cricket Affairs” for Multan Sultans. In this role, he will oversee player selection, long-term strategic planning, and overall cricketing operations.

Furthermore, Pakistan’s current head coach, Mike Hesson, is expected to take over as the new Head Coach of Multan Sultans. The names of legendary former cricketers such as Abdul Razzaq, Mushtaq Ahmed, and Taufeeq Umar are also being considered for various roles within the coaching staff.

With a completely new management structure and a potential change in on-field leadership, this upcoming season promises to be a fascinating chapter for Multan Sultans fans.
