The Hundred and SA20 outshine IPL in latest rankings
PSL ranked 5th globally in new World Cricketers’ Association League standings
By Nawaz Gohar ; The World Cricketers’ Association (WCA) has officially released its latest global league rankings, placing England’s The Hundred at the top of the pyramid, followed closely by South Africa’s SA20 in second place.
According to the rankings released by the global players’ body, the Indian Premier League (IPL), widely considered the world’s most lucrative cricket tournament, is ranked third. The Hundred secured the top spot with 75.2 ranking points, while SA20 earned 68 points. The IPL followed with a score of 62.6.
The WCA noted that despite the IPL’s massive commercial success and high valuation, there is significant room for improvement if it aims to become the premier league globally. The report specifically highlighted the need for the IPL to enhance its standards regarding player rights and welfare.
Rounding out the top five, Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) sits in fourth place with 62.5 points, while the Pakistan Super League (PSL) holds the fifth position with 48 points.
The remainder of the top ten includes Major League Cricket (MLC) in sixth, International League T20 (ILT20) in seventh, and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in eighth. The Abu Dhabi T10 and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) occupy the ninth and tenth spots, respectively.
