Scuffle breaks out between WAPDA and Navy players during National Games hockey semifinal

By Nawaz Gohar ;  Another incident of player altercation marred the 35th National Games on Thursday, as a scuffle broke out between athletes of WAPDA and Pakistan Navy during the men’s hockey semifinal.

The heated exchange erupted immediately after the semifinal match, in which Pakistan Navy defeated WAPDA 3–2 to secure their spot in the final. As Navy players celebrated their victory, tensions escalated when members of both teams engaged in verbal exchanges that quickly intensified.

The situation worsened when the confrontation turned physical, resulting in a brief spell of pushing and shoving between players. Officials and several athletes from both sides intervened promptly to diffuse the situation and prevent the clash from escalating further.

This is not the first disciplinary issue reported at the ongoing National Games. Earlier in the event, similar altercations occurred during the girls’ netball and men’s football competitions, raising concerns over sportsmanship and on-field conduct. Authorities are expected to review the incident and assess whether disciplinary action is warranted.
