South Asia Olympic Council approves dates and venues for 14th South Asian Games in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: By Nawaz Gohar ; The Executive Committee of the South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC) has officially approved the dates and hosting details for the upcoming 14th South Asian Games.

The multi-sport regional event will be co-hosted across three major Pakistani cities: Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar.

The decision was finalized during an executive committee meeting held in Islamabad, attended by representatives from participating member nations, including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives.

Officials from the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination were present on-site, while a delegation from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) joined the proceedings via video link.

According to the approved schedule, the Games will feature competitions across 28 men’s and 25 women’s sports disciplines, with a total of 346 gold medals up for grabs. More than 4,200 athletes and sports officials from across the region are expected to participate.

President of the Pakistan Olympic Association, Arif Saeed, stated that Pakistan is fully prepared to host the regional event. He highlighted that the federal government is extending complete support to ensure seamless execution, promising a high-caliber experience for all international delegates and athletes.
