By Nawaz Gohar ; Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, has expressed his ambition to transform the Pakistan Super League (PSL) into the world’s leading cricket brand, following a record-breaking financial milestone for the league.
The 2.5 Billion Rupee Milestone Speaking to the media, Naqvi congratulated Wali Tech on their successful acquisition of the Multan franchise for a staggering PKR 2.5 billion. He noted that this high-value auction is a testament to the league’s rising market value and global popularity.
“The market for PSL is expanding, and the influx of top-tier international players into this auction model proves our growth,” Naqvi stated. He added that while he holds a special affinity for the Multan Sultans, the overall success of the bidding process is a victory for the entire league.
Addressing the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the upcoming World Cup, the PCB Chairman emphasized a policy of regional support and dialogue. He clarified that the primary issue involved the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), and Pakistan was unwilling to proceed without hearing and respecting their position.
“We have learned to honor guests in our home. If someone reaches out to us, we are willing to move past previous grievances,” Naqvi remarked, adding that Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh was the “right thing to do.” He confirmed that negotiations between the ICC and BCB are currently ongoing.
In a bold closing statement regarding international cricket politics, Naqvi sent a clear message to global stakeholders. He asserted that neither he nor the Pakistani government would succumb to threats or external pressure. “I am not intimidated by threats, nor is our government under any pressure,” he declared. He revealed that several countries have contacted Pakistan, and in every instance, Pakistan’s principled stance was communicated with absolute clarity.
