In a surprising turn of events, the Election Commissioner has decided to cancel the meeting called by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) for a vote of no-confidence against the current PHF Secretary. The motion of no confidence had been meticulously prepared by both factions within the PHF.

Originally, 108 members of the Congress were expected to participate in the vote, but it was revealed that only 100 members were eligible, as they had attended the Congress session in August 2022 when the current Secretary, Haider Hussain, was appointed.

The meeting convened in Islamabad for the no-confidence motion witnessed a substantial turnout, with numerous women members hailing from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan in attendance. Members of the K group, including Shehla Raza, also represented the Sindh faction.

However, tensions flared as members from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan raised objections to the provided member list, insisting that only those who had participated in the 2022 Congress session should be eligible for the no-confidence vote.

Initially, it was anticipated that the Secretary would approve the motion of no confidence against the PHF. Still, the Election Commissioner, Chaudhry Riaz, sensing the heightened tension between the opposing groups, abruptly announced the cancellation of the meeting, sparking off a wave of protests and slogans.

Due to concerns about the security situation in the Blue Area, the police swiftly intervened, evicting both groups from the hotel premises, ultimately resulting in the cancellation of the much-anticipated meeting for a vote of no confidence against the PHF Secretary.
