By Nawaz Gohar ; The metropolitan city of Karachi is once again gearing up to host the “Lifebuoy One Run” International Half Marathon on May 23, with an expected turnout of over 1,500 participants.

Organised by “Sports in Pakistan” in collaboration with Lifebuoy, the marathon is being hailed as one of the city’s premier running events. To ensure inclusivity, the organizers have established four distinct categories catering to various age groups and fitness levels: 1km, 5km, 10km, and the signature 21.1km Half Marathon.

The race is scheduled to commence and conclude at Emaar Oceanfront, DHA Phase 8, located on Abdul Sattar Edhi Road (Seaview). This initiative provides an ideal platform for families, friends, and fitness enthusiasts to embrace a healthier lifestyle while becoming part of a global running community. According to the organizers, Lifebuoy aims to promote national awareness regarding hygiene, physical fitness, and holistic well-being through this event.

On the same day, this initiative will transform into a massive global festival as over 245,000 runners participate simultaneously across various countries, including Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, India, the UAE, Qatar, Venezuela, Serbia, Tanzania, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Event organizer Shoaib Nizami noted that the running culture in Karachi is witnessing rapid growth, with people from all walks of life participating annually.

He emphasized that Karachi should be recognized not only for its culinary diversity but also for its vibrant and healthy lifestyle. He added that this event serves as a vital opportunity to project a positive and dynamic image of the city to the world.

“One Run” is an annual international half marathon held simultaneously across the globe, aimed at fostering international solidarity, healthy living, and cultural connectivity.
