LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti has issued directions to officers for the timely completion of sports development projects in Lahore and Faisalabad divisions and in this regard no negligence will be tolerated; he expressed these views while presiding an important meeting at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.
Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh, Project Director PMU/Director Admin Javed Chohan, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Planning Rauf Bajwa and Project Management Unit (PMU) team attended the meeting which was convened to review the sports development projects in Lahore and Faisalabad divisions.
Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh, Project Director PMU/Director Admin Javed Chohan, Divisional Sports Officer Lahore Nadeem Qaiser and Divisional Sports Officer Faisalabad Tariq Nazir briefed the meeting about the sports development projects.
Addressing the meeting, Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti directed the concerned officers to take extra care while preparing PC-I of the sports development projects. He stressed the need of timely completion of sports projects to provide modern sports facilities to youth of the province as per the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said providing modern sports facilities to youth is top priority of Punjab govt and that’s why the concerned officers have been directed to complete the sports development projects in Lahore and Faisalabad divisions as early as possible.
Highlighting the importance of PC-I, Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said: “PC-I has great significance for any new project. Our officers must show great patience for the preparation of PC-I and take a timely review of the project from every angle to avoid several issues that may emerge in the later stages”.
Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti also directed the concerned officers to examine the 19 kanal land in Iqbal Park for the construction of akhara so that Punjab’s traditional wrestling (desi kushti) could be promoted appropriately. The Kasur Gymnasium was also reviewed during the meeting.
Briefing the meeting Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said the construction work is underway on sports development projects with satisfactory pace and several of them will be completed during next few months. “These projects are being monitored on regular basis. Modern facilities are also being provided in sports development projects in Lahore and Faisalabad divisions through which young players can polish their sports skills in a better way”.
Project Director PMU/Director Admin Javed Chohan gave a thorough briefing about the PMU projects. He informed that all the projects are being completed under the supervision of engineers and special emphasis is being given to standard of work.
Divisional Sports Officer Lahore Nadeem Qaiser also briefed the meeting about the sports development projects saying that construction work is underway on 19 sports projects in Lahore including 11 sports projects in Tehsil Lahore Model Town and four each in Tehsil Lahore Cantt and Tehsil Lahore City. “The project of Model Town APS 7×7 hockey ground is in the final stages of completion and astro-turf has been laid on the ground”.
Divisional Sports Officer Faisalabad Tariq Nazir informed the meeting that as many as 23 sports development projects are being built in Faisalabad Division including 20 schemes of Project Management Unit and three CNW. “The construction work on these schemes will be completed within the stipulated time period,” he added.
