Asia-Pacific Goalball Championship 2025 kicks off in Islamabad

The Asia-Pacific Goalball Championship 2025 rolled into action at the Liaquat Gymnasium of the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad on Thursday, featuring intense and exciting contests among the region’s top teams.

In the inaugural match, Iran edged past Saudi Arabia 6–4, while Thailand registered a commanding 14–4 victory over Iraq. Defending champions China began their title defence in dominant fashion, overpowering Pakistan by 17–7.

In the women’s fixtures, China’s women’s team also demonstrated superior technique and coordination, outclassing Pakistan’s women side by 13–3.

Organized by the Pakistan Blind Sports Federation, the prestigious international championship has brought together teams from Kazakhstan, Iran, Japan, Thailand, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Iraq, Uzbekistan and China.

This is the first time Pakistan is hosting the Asia-Pacific Goalball Championship, which features competitions in both the men’s and women’s categories.
