Regional Sports Officer Peshawar distributed sports equipment worth Rs. 3 lakh and seventy-five thousand to various academies in Peshawar. The district government of Peshawar provided four lakh rupees for the purchase of goods, out of which three hundred and seventy-five thousand rupees were utilized.

The equipment was distributed among Peshawar players participating in four different sports. Cricket equipment was given to the cricket academy players in the first phase. A farewell ceremony was organized at Peshawar Cricket Academy for Haris Khan before his departure to Canada.

The Regional Sports Officer stated that badminton, football, and lawn tennis players would also receive equipment. When asked about the eligibility criteria for the equipment distribution, he mentioned that it was primarily targeted at financially disadvantaged children, but the selection process for cricket academy and other sports players was not elaborated.

According to Regional Sports Officer Peshawar, Zakirullah, last year, they faced a shortage of funds, which limited equipment distribution to Peshawar academies only. However, this year, they have received two million rupees, allowing them to extend the distribution to players associated with Charsadda and other areas.
It’s worth noting that the management of Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Khyber, and Mohmand district sports offices falls under the purview of the Regional Sports Officer.

Other areas also have regional sports officers who receive funds from the district government. However, there is uncertainty about the utilization of these funds as no reports have been submitted by any regional sports officer in this regard.
