The sports community has endorsed the call for transparency in revenue records of various sports complexes situated across the province, initiated by the Director General of Sports. Furthermore, they underscored the importance of also investigating the records of old equipment within these complexes.
This step is crucial due to instances where outdated equipment has been reportedly sold without proper tender procedures, leading to a regrettable situation.
In their statement, representatives of the sports community emphasize that the request for revenue records spanning from 2018 to 2023 for the sports complexes holds multifaceted benefits.
Not only will it shed light on the financial performance of these complexes, but it will also unveil the most lucrative establishments in the province and provide insights into the sports that draw the highest participation.
They highlight that significant development endeavors have been ongoing at the Peshawar Sports Complex and Hayatabad Sports Complex, managed by the Provincial Sports Directorate.
Paradoxically, the records of old and currently used sports equipment are absent. To rectify this, a comprehensive record of equipment across all complexes, including those undergoing development, is necessary.
This will facilitate tracking the disposition of equipment post-maintenance – whether through open auction or selective contracting. A thorough report on these matters is imperative to prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future.
